Winter adventures in the Dolomites and skiing holidays in Santa Cristina

Enjoy the stunning winter landscape of Val Gardena with a variety of activities, including skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tobogganing.

In winter, I’m drawn out into the mountains to be active – on ski tours, across snow-covered slopes or hitting the slopes on skis. My passion for alpine winter sports shapes these experiences, which I love to share with my guests as a host and capture in photographs.

Ski

Thanks to its central location in St. Christina, our house is the ideal starting point for the Sellaronda, the Saslong and the sunny slopes on Seceda, Col Raiser and Alpe di Siusi. The ski bus stop is right outside the house, and the first Sellaronda ski lifts and the children’s lifts on Monte Pana are just a few minutes’ walk away and only 600 metres away respectively. After a skiing day, the après-ski at the Saslong valley station provides a lively way to round off the day.

Cross-country skiing

Val Gardena offers a wide range of cross-country skiing opportunities and delights visitors with perfectly groomed trails set amidst the stunning Dolomites landscape. On Monte Pana, experienced skiers will find challenging trails, whilst the Alpe di Siusi, Europe’s largest high-altitude grassland, offers breathtaking views of the Sella Group and the Sciliar. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace will find idyllic trails in the Vallunga valley within the Puez Odle Nature Park, perfect for enjoying peaceful hours in the winter landscape.

Just nature

Val Gardena is also an ideal winter destination for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet. A particularly beautiful winter hike starts directly from Residence Sovara and leads to St. Jakob’s Church. Diverse winter tours also invite you to explore Monte Pana, Rasciesa, Col Raiser, Seceda, the Alpe di Siusi and the Vallunga valley, either on snowshoes or with crampons, depending on snow conditions. Popular destinations for ski tourers include the Sassolungo Pass and the Roascharte.

Tobogganing

A fun tobogganing trip with a stop at a cozy mountain hut makes for a nice change from a day’s skiing and offers winter fun for young and old alike. Whether at Rasciesa (6 km), on the Alpe di Siusi and at Bullacia (23 km) or from the Zallinger Hut to Saltria (5 km) – the various toboggan runs in the area promise a variety of experiences among the snow-covered Dolomites. This makes every tobogganing trip a special winter experience.
